Here are two versions of the “same” banner for the social board; one’s just a static image and the other is an animated .gif. After a little research, I found a way to basically take a “3D screenshot” of N64 games running in an emulator (which is an amazingly awesome tool!). With that, I was able to get the Goddess models, their textures, and the rain texture and put it all into Maya. From there, it was just a matter of positioning and animating 😀 Then, of course, I threw it into Photoshop for the text 😛

A Link’s Awakening banner for the ZTP Social Board. The art I made the banner from is not mine (which is a shame because it’s an amazing image), but I did take the original and run it through Photoshop and Illustrator to create the banner.

This is just a simple little game I made one day. I had an idea for an area that would be kind of cool to navigate through, and the main draw of it was that there was no end to the environment—it kept going on forever. I didn’t get around to actually finishing the visual design (maybe some day I’ll take a few hours and do that >_>), but the mechanic is there. No matter how far you walk, and no matter which direction you go, you’ll never reach the end.
CONTROLS: WASD or arrow keys to move, spacebar to jump, and mouse to look around.

Kinect This! is a video game I made that uses the Xbox 360 Kinect for controlling the four “mini” games that are part of Kinect This! This was the next logical step to my virtual/augmented reality efforts preceding it that used various Wii controllers/accessories. I had looked into using a Kinect for those projects, but 1) it hadn’t been released yet for some the earlier projects, 2) there wasn’t a whole lot of working support for it right after it was released, and 3) I wasn’t able to get my hands on one for a while after its release. I’m glad I finally did though! It was a ton of fun to work on, and everyone who played the games at the art show I presented it at really, really liked it :). Check out the videos above (and below) to see the games in action!
There are (if I remember correctly) two to four building textures in Smash City that some friends of mine were nice enough to make for the game. And while I did use a plugin to get the Kinect to work with Unity, everything else was created by me.
The source code for the games can be downloaded here (.zip).

E-maaaaaaails! This week we switch it up a bit and read e-mails first (keep ’em coming!). After that, Angel poses a question: why do people automatically assume that games that don’t have traditionally realistic graphics are “kiddy,” immature, boring, and/or bad and aren’t even worth trying out? Is this shared assumption dictating the art styles that developers use in their games?

What began as an episode without a topic ended up being a two and a half hour episode about every topic. Ever. In Episode 82, we talk about everything from The Avengers to E3 to next gen to the gaming industry to graphics vs. art style and more. Sit down, strap in, and take it (in the ears).
Featuring Adam, Alex, and Angel.

As a follow-up to last week’s episode, guest hosts Will, Chase, and Lisa join Adam to talk more in-depth about Mass Effect 3 and the (mostly) awesomeness that is the game. In addition to talking about the game’s ending, we discuss the game, and eventually series, as a whole, amazing experience.

In Episode 80, we discuss the whole Mass Effect 3 ending debacle. Why was there such a negative reaction to it? Was it right for BioWare to announce the “extended” ending? Was it right for fans to demand that BioWare change the ending? Is this a dangerous precedent to be setting? Will developers be forced by the fans to change unsatisfactory endings from now on?
Featuring Adam, Alex, Nick, Angel, and Matt.
