Oh, Sonic, Sonic, Sonic… How long has it been since you had a good game? I suppose that answer will vary depending on how much individual Sonic fans are willing to forgive, but the general consensus is that it’s been far too long. I myself am a huge Sonic fan despite being a die-hard Nintendo fanboy. While other kids were reading comics about some lame guys in tights called Superman, Batman, and Spider-Man, I was busy reading up on the blue rodent with an attitude and an appetite for chili dogs. Despite my love for Sonic, playing Sonic and the Secret Rings for the Wii felt like each member of Sonic Team coming up to me one by one and slapping me in the face and spitting in my eye. Needless to say, that game completely turned me off of the franchise I once adored (at the time I didn’t have a 360 or PS3 for that Sonic the Hedgehog to do it for me). Praise the gaming gods for Sonic Generations! Ever since its first trailer, the game has looked great, but fans (myself included) remained understandably skeptical. Now that the game is out, and I’ve spent countless hours with it, I am very pleased to say that Sonic Generations broke the curse of the Sonic Cycle and is the best Sonic game I have played in a long time.

With the imminent release of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, fans are beginning to get a little rabid about the game (myself included). To make matters harder on the (not so) patient Zelda fanatics, Nintendo has been releasing a lot of information about the game as of late, and as more and more members of the gaming press get their excited hands on it, details about Skyward Sword have been spreading around the Internet like a virus. Due to this, gamers have been sharing rumors and theories about the game, hoping to find the cure to their burning curiosity. With fans clinging to every word uttered about the game and meticulously trying to make sense of them, isn’t it about time we do the same?
We’ve been told over and over by Nintendo, Miyamoto, and Aonuma that Skyward Sword is the first game in the Legend of Zelda timeline, but is it really the first in the timeline? Surely we cannot argue with what the creators of the series are saying. If they say it’s the first, then by golly it is! However, while it may be the first of the games so far, is it actually the game that will have no prequels? IsSkyward Sword the originator of the legend of Zelda?

Ah… Good ole Star Fox. Ever since its debut back in 1993, the series has put players in control of furry pilot Fox McCloud and his crew of space animal pals. Four years later, Star Fox 64 was released on the Nintendo 64 and has since become widely regarded as the best game of the series. For more than a decade, gamers have been clamoring for another Star Fox game that plays and feels as good as Star Fox 64. While the GameCube and Nintendo DS sequels were fun in their own rights, they just weren’t quite what fans were looking for. That said, what better way to give the fans what they want than a 3D remake of the series’ best? While the bulk of Star Fox 64 3D is taken straight from the Nintendo 64 original, Nintendo EAD and co-developer Q-games (who also made Star Fox Command for the Nintendo DS) made sure to stuff a whole slew of new features into this Nintendo 3DS remake such as updated graphics, updated controls, updated voice overs, and a brand new multiplayer experience. Oh yeah, and it’s in 3D.

Can’t wait another 24 hours for the free NES games you were promised? Neither can we. Good news though! Japan got their free Famicom games earlier today, and so did we!

Earlier this year at E3, Nintendo revealed to us Zelda fans that, as a part of the series’ 25th Year Anniversary celebration, there would be two retail copies of Skyward Sword. One copy would just be the boring old game by itself while the other would be a rocking golden bundle of goodness complete with a golden Wii Remote Plus and a 25th Anniverstary soundtrack.

What makes the best things in life better? Adding another dimension, obviously. Fact: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is the best thing since sliced bread — heck, it’s better than sliced bread. However, this game came out in 1998 and has had more than its share of reviews, criticisms, theories, and even reevaluations. Therefore, there shall be no story, no complaining about Navi, no talk of vast emptiness, and no timeline discussed in this review. Do you hear me? None (for the record though, there is a timeline, and Navi loves you no matter how much you hate her)! What I will talk about are the differences between Ocarina of Time 3Dand the original Nintendo 64 version (as well as the GameCube and Wii ports). I willtalk about why you should drop whatever you’re doing (except reading this review… finish that…) and go buy this game. And I will explain to you why The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D is even better than sliced bread with butter!

With the announcement of a new Super Smash Bros. yesterday for both the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, rumors have already started flying. Here’s your chance to get the facts straight. Granted, we’re not given much, but it’s at least nice to hear Sakurai’s thoughts on the upcoming projects.

In case you missed it, Nintendo gave us a new Ocarina of Time 3D trailer today. In addition to being another minute of drool-inducing footage, it’s a near perfect recreation of the first Ocarina of Time 64 trailer. Because of this, they must be compared. It’s as simple as that.
