NerdMentality is a website that covers video games, movies, comics, TV shows, and generally anything that's electronic or otaku related. I write for it! Since late 2009/early 2010, I’ve been writing articles and reviews for the site, and lately, I’ve been making videos as well.

Back in 2006, when I first started college (actually, I think it was summer session, so it was probably my very first semester there), I went to a Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament near campus. Out of the 50 or so people that were probably there, I met this one guy who seemed to be both participating in the tournament as well as doing some personal journalistic stuff about the tournament. Little did I know this guy was Jared Thomas, Editor-in-Chief of NerdMentality (at that time called n-Philes). However, I didn't find this out until years later. The next time I saw him was a few months later at the Nintendo Wii's launch in November. One of my roommates, two other guys I had met at the Melee tournament, and I waited outside Best Buy for five days waiting for the Wii's launch. I believe the day before it launched, Jared walked by, and we recognized him. We said hey and talked for a bit, but that was about it.

A few years later, my friend, Frankie, told my friends and I that he was going to that year's E3 thanks to his participation in a gaming website called n-Philes. After talking about it for a while, he mentioned the person in charge was named Jared, and that he had mentioned to Frankie that he knew me. What do you know? It was the same Jared I had met a few years back! And that was pretty much it. When I found this out, I contacted Jared and asked him if and how I could be a part of the website too. The rest is history.
