Another year, another Metroid… The question that seems to be on everyone’s mind is whether they should buy it or skip it. With the return to “traditional sidescrolling” after so many years of the Prime adventure/FPS games, people are very skeptical and cautious about Metroid: Other M. Hopefully after reading this review, your minds will be set on, at the very least, renting this game.

If you haven’t heard about Scott Pilgrim by now, shame on you. But don’t fret, you can redeem your nerd cred by reading the comics, seeing the movie, playing the game, and loving it (not necessarily in that order).

Excited about Scott Pilgrim vs. The World or Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game?  Good, you should be.  But for those who are too cheap to go see the movie or buy the game, at least you can rest in knowing that there are some free goodies for you available to Xbox Live Gold Members and Playstation 3 owners.

It has been (un)officially announced that Microsoft’s Project Natal will be called “Kinect.”  Think what you will about the name, but we’ll see how well it actually works soon enough.  The name will be officially announced in about an hour at Microsoft’s Project Natal Unveiling at the Galen Center.

Post-event edit:
A couple of games for the Kinect were shown (as well as a questionable dress code):

  • Kinectimals, essentially Nintendogs but with cats, including tigers, lions, and cheetahs
  • Joyride, a racing game similar in control to what was shown at Natal’s debut
  • Kinect Sports, which features boxing, bowling, beach volleyball, track and field, soccer, and table tennis
  • Kinect Adventure, a four-player river rafting extravaganza
  • Dance Central, an MTV Games-developed dance extravaganza
  • Other games set in the Disney and Star Wars universes

Jared summarizes the event best: “I don’t get it.”

Ladies and gentlemen, I played Super Mario Galaxy 2 in one 16-hour sitting; start to finish; 100% complete. I woke up early Sunday morning, drove over to my local Gamestop, bought the game, and disappeared into my gaming lair for the rest of the day (and much of the next morning). Only taking bathroom and eating breaks, I destroyed the game in my hardcore playtime. Let this be testament to both the game itself and how much I enjoyed it. With that said I’d like to start out by saying – scratch that – YELLING that Super Mario Galaxy 2 is an incredibly fantastic game, and that anyone owning a Wii or anyone even remotely interested in the Super Mario series should buy this game. I played the game from start to finish (100% complete) in one 16-hour sitting, so you know how much I enjoyed it. There is no question that this is, hands down, a must have game; however, it is not perfect, and there are things that could have (and should have) been done to it to improve the experience.

Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver start like all other Pokémon games before them.  Everyone’s favorite Pokémon Professor, Professor Oak, gives a brief explanation of the little Pocket Monsters and the fantastic world they share with us humans.  He has been giving this speech for over a decade now, how different can the world of Pokémon be?
